4th - 5th

Were you aware that nearly half (43%) of all Americans who accept Jesus Christ as their savior do so before reaching the age of 13?* This statistic is truly a fulfillment of Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Considering this, what experience and knowledge will your children have to base their decision on?
This is a time like no other to teach them the ways of the Lord and get them connected to the house of God! Our 4th and 5th grade program is designed to help your child learn to make proper choices in life, based on godly principles and their relationship with Him. We teach them to use the tools God has equipped them with so that they can successfully navigate through life. What your child experiences at this stage in life will be the final layer of foundation to their long-lasting relationship with the Lord and His people. A general overview of a typical service for your child is noted below.
4th and 5th grade join together in the service room for the following:
Service Room (Creative Illustration, Praise & Worship, Bible Lesson)
There is a distinct difference in how we present information to your child at the 4th and 5th grade level. We begin with an introduction of the
creative illustration to immediately grab the attention of every child. We then move to
praise and worship, where your child will learn the nine ways to praise from the Psalms of David. This gives them the opportunity to express their love to God in their own way.
The presenter will then deliver the
Bible lesson in a preaching format, while utilizing multi-media in order to assist in the understanding of what is being taught. This also prepares the kids for the more detailed lessons they will hear as they grow older. Creative illustration is used once again as we introduce a cast of characters who will complete the illustration of the lesson or principle being taught. The minister then ties everything together: the Bible Lesson, Creative Illustration, and Memory Verse, and ends with prayer.
The following occurs in each individual 4th and 5th grade classroom:
Prayer & Offering
This time provides the children the opportunity to speak with God and honor Him in all we do. During the class your child’s group will come together to bless the offering and tithes, to thank God for the things He has given them, and for those in their life such as: parents, family, church, home, and friends.
Memory Verse
Memory verses help the children begin learning important verses of the Bible. The verses are selected to directly support the lesson of each week. Your child’s teacher can provide you with a list for the month’s memory verses to take home. (Click here to print this month’s list)
Group Discussion
What good is information if you do not know how to apply it? That is the premise of our group discussion time. This allows the teacher to review with the children all aspects of what they learned-- from the memory verse, to the creative illustration, and ending with how to apply the lesson to their everyday life.
